Digital Collection Evaluation: Harvard University: Wolbach Library
The objective of my evaluation was to examine how various community members use the library in order to determine whether digital access to information resources enhances the learning experience and research process. I evaluated the library’s digital collection to test its efficiency in meeting the needs of the community that it serves. The paper explores various research methods provided by the library to evaluate their electronic and physical resources. Digital collections are a current trend in the LIS profession that I continued to reference in my evaluation to explain its impact on information access and its effects on teaching and research.
Hot Topic Presentation: Navigating Digital Collections and the Digital Divide
This assignment was an analysis of the profession as it evolves with digital practices. In selecting my topic for the presentation, I focused on examining how the current digital era influences not only library collections but also how individuals access and retrieve information. As technologies continue to emerge and develop, they will continue to impact the development of library collections. At the end of my presentation, I included discussion questions I had created to engage students in educational discourse regarding my topic and how the digital divide will affect the future of the LIS profession, creating a learning opportunity.
